BYD Ranch & Kennel was founded in 2006 and built on the foundation of love, trust, professionalism, respect, and a commitment to providing the best possible environment for your companion.   Like you, we share a passion for animals.

Jim and I were married out of High School, but divorced in 1990.   After an almost 15-year separation, we made contact again and quickly remarried.   Happier than ever, we share our lives with our growing family:

Xena: the inspiration for the Big Yella Dawg name

Toto: A Terrier mix and manipulator extraordinaire…11 pounds of tough puppy!

Shane: A Red Heeler who hasn’t met a human or dog he isn’t passionate about!

Nan (RFF Cannonette) is my (2000) Thoroughbred. I learned to ride on her and with Nan I have rekindled my passion for all things horse.
With the birth of Latte (LuckyRoyal Latte) I fulfilled a breeding I have wanted for almost 8 years. Latte’s sire is RFF Starbuck (www.flatbrokefarm.com).
Although Nan’s pregnancy and Latte’s birth was textbook-- our journey in Latte’s short time here on earth has not been. Latte survived having a septic hip and when we had ongoing lameness issues, we discovered that her hip had been damaged beyond recovery and I had to make the heartbreaking choice to let her go. She will be missed.

Misty (Misty Blue Moon) was purchased from the Gallihers at Mustang Meadows-their farm is located here in Bryan. Misty is an Amber Champagne Colonial Spanish Mustang-not to be confused with a BLM mustang (those caught in the wild). Spanish Mustangs can trace their lineage all the way back to the Conquistadors.
Misty was added to the family so that Miriam could have a seasoned NATRC horse and so that when Nan was ready to go back under saddle, Jim could ride along on camping trips. Whatever the reason, Misty is a true pony girl and is well loved. She and Nan get along well and she is fast becoming friends with Latte as well.
